Cookie Policy

Last updated: 7 May 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how Gilgamesh™ uses them on gilgamesh.in, what data they collect, and how you can control them. It is designed to comply with the EU ePrivacy Directive, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable laws.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the website owner about how visitors interact with the site.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or install malware on your device. They can, however, carry a unique identifier that allows a server to recognise your browser across sessions and across sites.

In addition to cookies, we may also use:

  • Web beacons / pixel tags. invisible images embedded in pages or emails that help us track engagement
  • Local storage. browser-side storage used for session state and preferences
  • Session storage. temporary storage cleared when the browser is closed
  • Fingerprinting. we do not use device fingerprinting

2. Types of Cookies We Use

We categorise cookies into four types, aligned with the ICC UK Cookie Guide and ICO guidance:

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take such as setting privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block these, but parts of the site will not function as a result. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information and do not require your consent.

Analytics and Performance Cookies

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us understand which pages are most and least popular and how visitors navigate the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and anonymised. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you visited and will not be able to monitor performance. These cookies require your consent.

Functional Cookies

These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering your language preference, region, or previously entered form data. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, some of these services may not function properly.

Marketing and Targeting Cookies

These cookies may be set through our site by advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store personal information directly but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising. These cookies require explicit consent.

These are used to measure and optimise the performance of our paid acquisition campaigns; we do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for their own marketing.

You can revoke consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in our footer, which removes future tag firing immediately and stores the updated state for 12 months.

4. Legal Basis for Cookie Use

Under GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and equivalent laws, different cookies require different legal bases:

Cookie CategoryLegal BasisConsent Required?
Strictly NecessaryLegitimate interests / Essential operationNo
AnalyticsConsentYes
FunctionalLegitimate interests / ConsentDepends
MarketingConsentYes

5. Cookie Consent

When you first visit gilgamesh.in, you are presented with a cookie consent notice at the bottom of the screen. We obtain your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device, in accordance with GDPR Article 6(1)(a), the ePrivacy Directive, the UK GDPR (PECR), and India's DPDPA 2023.

The notice offers three options: Accept all, Reject all, and Customize. Customize opens a panel where you can toggle each non-essential category (Analytics, Marketing) independently and save your preferences. Necessary cookies are always on under legitimate-interest grounds (no consent required) and are clearly labelled as such.

Your consent is:

  • Freely given. Reject all is a top-level option of equal prominence to Accept all, with no loss of access to core site functionality.
  • Specific. you can consent to Analytics and Marketing categories separately via Customize.
  • Informed. each category lists the platforms it applies to and the cookies set, before you consent.
  • Unambiguous. no pre-ticked boxes; consent requires an affirmative action (clicking Accept, toggling on and saving, etc.).
  • Withdrawable. you can revoke or change your preferences at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in our footer; changes take effect immediately, and the analytics / advertising platforms stop receiving data on your next page load.

We record the date, time, and scope of your consent in browser storage (localStorage and a first-party cookie under .gilgamesh.in). The record persists for 12 months from the most recent affirmative action, as evidence of compliance and so we do not re-prompt you on every visit. After 12 months, or after a category change, the banner re-appears and we obtain fresh consent.

6. How to Manage and Control Cookies

6.1 Cookie preference centre

You can update your cookie preferences at any time by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer of any page, or directly via the button below. Changes take effect immediately, and any previously placed non-essential cookies will be cleared on your next page load.

6.2 Browser settings

All major browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find these under Privacy, Security, or Advanced settings. Below are direct links to cookie management guidance for common browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Please note that blocking all cookies may impair your ability to use certain features of our site or other websites.

6.3 Opt-out tools for analytics

If you wish to opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This prevents data from being sent to Google Analytics regardless of your cookie preferences.

6.4 Do Not Track (DNT)

Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal to websites. Currently there is no universally agreed standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. We honour DNT signals by not deploying analytics or marketing cookies when a DNT signal is detected, where technically feasible.

6.5 Mobile devices

On mobile devices, you can control interest-based advertising through your device settings. On iOS, use “Limit Ad Tracking” under Privacy settings. On Android, use “Opt out of Ads Personalisation” under Google Settings.

7. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our site are placed by third-party services we use. These third parties set their cookies under their own privacy policies and terms, over which we have limited control. We carefully select our third-party providers and, where possible, configure them to minimise data collection.

Current third-party services that may set cookies include:

Google Analytics

Website traffic analytics and usage reporting

Privacy Policy ↗

Cloudflare

Security, performance, and bot protection

We do not permit third-party advertising networks to place cookies on our site without your explicit consent.

8. International Transfers via Cookies

Some cookies set by our third-party providers may result in personal data being transferred to servers outside India or the European Economic Area (EEA). For example, Google Analytics transfers data to Google's servers in the United States. Where such transfers occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions, as required by applicable law.

You can limit international data transfers by declining analytics and marketing cookies via our consent centre.

9. Children

Our site is not directed at children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly place cookies on the devices of minors. If you believe a minor has consented to cookies on our site, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action.

10. Retention of Cookie Data

Cookie data is retained for the duration specified in Section 3. Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies expire at the time specified in their duration. Analytics data derived from cookies is retained for 26 months before being anonymised or deleted. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us.

11. Your Rights in Relation to Cookie Data

To the extent that cookie data constitutes personal data under applicable law, you have the same rights in relation to it as described in our Privacy Policy, including rights of access, correction, erasure, portability, and objection.

To exercise these rights or to withdraw cookie consent, contact us at likith@gilgamesh.in.

12. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We review this Cookie Policy regularly and may update it to reflect changes in the cookies we use, applicable law, or regulatory guidance. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and notify users via our cookie consent banner where appropriate. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Previous versions of this policy are available upon request.
